The Forgotten Guardian Chapter 1 The air was filled with the seductive scent of roses. The flowers perfume was almost intoxicating to the guests. Beautiful music was being played. Richly dressed ladies and their dashing partners twirled in a beautiful ballroom with a gleaming marble floor. Outside the sky was filled with gleaming stars and the earth sparkled against the velvet dark sky like a jewel. A lone figure stood and gazed at its majestic beauty. The watcher was a young man of 16 years. He was tall and broad shouldered. He was dressed in a loose white shirt with a sparkling golden vest. He put his hands in his black pants pockets and let out a long sigh. His mother would fuss at him for leaving the party and all the guests, especially the myriad number of eligible young ladies. The crowned prince of the sun kingdom was a perfect catch for any young lady. He gazed across the rose gardens to see a couple silhouetted by a wall of white marble that seemed to glow with it's own light. He immediately identified the woman by the long ponytails that fell from two balls on her head. He guessed that the young man holding his sister tightly was Prince Endymion of the earth kingdom. Princess Serena was having a good time in the arms of her love. Prince Tranq sighed once more and turned his gaze from the happy couple. If he had stayed in the ballroom brainless twits looking for a husband would have surrounded him. He heard a rustle and turned to see a figure hiding in the rose bushes. She must have felt him staring at her for see turned to meet his gaze. "How long have you been hiding there?" Tranq asked as he held out his hand to help her out. A warm white hand gasped it and came out of the roses. "Not long" she answered quietly. He stared down at the girl to meet her gaze. She was not tall at all for she only came up to Tranq's shoulders. Her hair was jet black and done up in the same fashion as his sisters except her hair was wavy. She had strange eyes that seemed to burst with bluish violet and gold. She wore a simple dress of a light silver material that sparkled when light hit it. She held handful of roses and gave them to him. The bouquet of gold and silver roses that had been grown in honor for his and his sister's 16th birthday. "Thank you, they are lovely," Tranq said as he took the bouquet. "Your welcome" she said and gave him a small smile. For some reason, he was the only one she talked to. She never spoke out loud. Tranq didn't know if it was because she couldn't or wouldn't. With a few quick motions, Tranq formed a wreath of roses and placed it upon her head. "You look beautiful tonight," said Tranq as he took her hand in his. She stared up at him with her soulful eyes. "You...you look very handsome" she replied. Tranq hardly ever saw her around when he came to visit his mother and sister on the moon. He had asked his sister about her one day and she filled him in on what she knew. The girl shows up every time the roses would start blooming. Then after all the roses were in full bloom she would leave as mysteriously as she appeared. Everyone called her Mist for she appeared and disappeared like the Mist that forms in the morning. During his visits to the moon he would spend many hours in the morning walking with her in the garden. This was done before many of the castle awakened. Sometimes he would see her during the day but not often. He carefully folded his arms around her and kissed her lightly on the lips. "Hey Tranq were are you?" yelled a voice that broke the enchantment of the moment. "Tranq come on, Queen Serenity wants you and Serena to open your gifts," said Princess Lita of the Jupiter Kingdom. Tranq turned back to find Mist had disappeared.Tranq sighed as emptiness filled his chest. He turned and followed Lita to the party. "Oh great. Just great, I am going to be late my first day of school! My alarm clock! Where is my alarm clock?" rang though the Lee's house. A teenage girl ran down the stairs and into the kitchen. Mrs. Lee looked up from the eggs she was frying. "All right where is it?" demanded the girl as she grabbed Bobby. Bobby yelled and tried to get free from her grasp. "Try under his bed, Dear. Hurry up you are going to be late," Mrs. Lee said calmly enjoying the shocked look on her son's face. "You are going to have to get a new hiding place," she said calmly. "My diary. Prepare to die Brat!" yelled the girl from upstairs. She ran down stairs and grabbed Bobby again. "Don't you ever go into my room or get into my stuff or I'll send you a one way ticket to the moon!" yelled the girl. "Sit down, Alexis and eat breakfast. You can send him to the moon after school. Bobby I don't want you going into her room is that understood?" said Mrs. Lee. Bobby nodded rubbing his shoulder were Alexis had grabbed him. "Here's your school uniform," said Mrs. Lee as she held out a dress for Alexis to inspect. Alexis almost choked on a bite of egg and glared at Bobby's smirk. "Uniform? Nobody said anything about a uniform. It looks like something someone would wear sailing not going to school in," remarked Alexis. The dress looked like a sailor costume for a girl. It had a white blouse with a red bow in the front and a knee length pleated blue skirt. Alexis shrugged, grabbed it, and ran upstairs. Alexis studied herself in the full-length mirror. Actually it didn't look bad. She had done her dark hair into a french braid and put a little bit of makeup on that accented her dark green eyes and high cheekbones. She stared at the clock and panicked when she realized the time. Then she saw her roller blades. She smiled and grabbed them. Moments later, a teenage girl in a sailor dress with roller blades, helmet, and knee and elbow pads skated quickly down the street. Alexis ignored the looks of disapproval on the faces of pedestrians on the sidewalk. Meanwhile another girl was also racing to school. She took a corner to fast and ended up slamming into someone. She looked up to apologize to see it was her boyfriend, Darien. "Can't you ever look were your going, meatball head?" said Darien with a pretending to be angry. Serena had long blonde ponytails that hung from two balls on top of her head. Darien was a young man of twenty-one while the Serena was fifteen. Darien had dark black hair and deep blue eyes. "Darien, I want to talk to you," said Serena. "I'm listening," said Darien calmly. They had both been though a lot of rough spots in their relationship but grew closer because of them. "I want you to come to my house and eat dinner with my family," said Serena. The request sounded simple but it wasn't. Darien immediately got the image of Serena's father who did not like him at all. "Gee, Serena. I don't know. I mean you Dad hates me," said Darien. "Come on, you have to. Dad's bark is worse then his bite. You have to or I can't..." she didn't finish her sentence before she burst out in her normal wail. "Serena, lower the volume. You can't what?" asked Darien. "I can't date you anymore," sobbed Serena. This caused a look of shock on Darien's face. For a moment he couldn't think of anything but Serena's last words. "Now calm down, Serena. Remember the last time I was at your house. Your Dad nearly threw me out. Maybe we can still go out even if I don't go to your house," said Darien trying his best to think rationally. "Why are you being so mean to me? I thought you loved me!" said Serena as she wailed the last words. Darien was getting slightly annoyed at her behavior. "I am only trying to be rational," explained Darien. "Look at the last time you tried to be rational, I mean last time I spent months trying to think what was wrong with me that would make you break up with me," Serena snapped to angry to see the pain that swept over his face. "I told you I did that because I thought I was saving your life. You know that!" said Darien. "But you still treat me like a child. Maybe Dad is right about you being to old for me! I can't believe you have more courage battling monsters as Tuxedo Mask and battling Queen Beryl as Prince Endymion then you do as Darien Chiba facing my dad," with that Serena stormed off. Darien looked sadly after her. Could there be some truth to words? Alexis glanced at the clock as she ran down the hall. 'Great two minutes to get to class. I think I can make it!' thought Alexis as she headed toward room 28. Suddenly she spotted it. Another girl was racing by her and almost knocked her down. '9 seconds' thought Alexis with panic. It definitely would not look good for to be late the first day. With a sudden burst of speed, Alexis reached the doorway only to have the other girl crash into her and they both toppled to the floor. Alexis's skates that had been in her hands went flying though the air. One landed with a thud in the trash can and the other went flying toward the teacher. Alexis closed her eyes so she would miss the horrifying scene but Alexis didn't hear the skate's impact. Alexis opened her eyes slowly. A guy was standing in front of the teacher holding the skate, which he must have caught. He helped up the girl on top of Alexis first. "Are you O.K., Serena?" he asked the girl who nodded. The two looked a lot alike. They both had blonde hair and light blue eyes. The guy was tall, muscular and classically handsome. Then he held out his hand to help up Alexis. She grasped it and got up. "Here's your skates," said the boy as he picked the other one out of the trash can. Alexis felt color creep up her neck and cheeks. "Thanks," Alexis replied and took the skates ignoring the snickers emanating around the class. Alexis took an empty seat in the back. The guy sat down next to Serena. "I see you have gotten back into your old habits Serena. I was hoping you would mature over the summer," said the teacher. The girl bit her lip and looked down at her desk. "We have a new student in our class. All of you say hello to Alexis Jones. Come up here Alexis and tell something about your self. Alexis slowly got up from her seat and went to the front of the room. "Umm, I am from the US and I like skating, playing the piano, and umm... history," said Alexis shyly. "What state?" said the boy who had helped her up. His voice made her jump. "Excuse me?" she said not exactly sure she had heard him correctly. "What state are you from in the US?" the boy asked again. "Virginia," said Alexis. Before he could reply, the teacher, whom Alexis later found out, was Ms. Haruna, interrupted. "That's enough. Alexis you can return to your seat. Travis next time raise your hand," said Ms. Haruna. Travis glanced at his sister. She looked awful. Usually Ms. Haruna's comments never affected her. Travis turned around and looked at the new girl. She looked just as miserable as his sister Serena. Travis suddenly winced as something hot burned his chest. He pulled out a necklace that he usually kept hidden under his shirt. The small amulet the shape of a tiny sword glowed in his hand. Suddenly as a white light flashed before his eyes. He suddenly saw a man with golden armor standing before him. "Tranquillity," Travis whispered. Tranquillity was the older version of himself, the king of the Sun Kingdom in the future. "Travis, I need you and the sailor scouts help. My kingdom is under attack and the only way to defend it is by you getting the Sun Kingdom's guardian. I know you don't have any idea what I am talking about but listen anyway. Sailor Pluto is going to have doors opening into the past. There you must get a certain object that represents a scout and their planet. Please the whole universe rests on you finding the guardian," said Tranquillity and then the vision faded. Travis shook his head. Apparently nobody else had seen the vision for they were all paying attention to Ms. Haruna. Travis looked over at Serena who was as usual not paying attention. Travis nudged her. "I need to talk to you at lunch. Scout business," Travis whispered. Serena nodded with a frown of concern. Whatever it was she knew it had to be serious. "What's up?" asked Serena as her brother led her to a private place in the schoolyard. Travis looked at her with his eyes full of concern. "Tranquillity talked to me from the future. His kingdom is under attack. I think the Super Sailor Scouts are trying but they are not defeating this new threat. So he wants the Scouts to find the Guardian of the Sun Kingdom. Sailor Pluto is opening the doors to our past so we can collect certain items that are keys to finding this guardian," whispered Travis. Serena stared at him with shock. "But I thought Sailor Sol was the guardian of the sun," said Serena. "I don't think Tranquillity means Sailor Sol. Tuxedo Mask is the guardian of the Moon Princess and her kingdom. So I think this new guardian will be like Tuxedo Mask," Travis said. Serena nodded. "So I guess that means we need a Scout meeting after school," said Serena. "HEY GUYS," yelled an annoying voice. Travis and Serena both jumped as they were interrupted. They turned around to see Melvin and Molly. Molly was Serena's best friend. She was a quite spoken girl with reddish brown hair. Melvin was Molly's boyfriend. Melvin was a computer nerd with huge thick glasses. "Hey Serena did you see that new girl. Well of course you did. You tripped over her this morning. Anyway it's all over school now," rattled Melvin. Travis suppressed a laugh as his twin glared in annoyance at Melvin. "Melvin, get to the point," said the very annoyed Serena. "Anyway, I got all the info on this girl. Her name is Alexis Jones. She just arrived in Tokyo four days ago from the USA," said Melvin. "Melvin what are you doing?" asked an annoyed voice. Melvin jumped at the sound of Lita's voice. Melvin had spread the info on Lita when she moved her and how she got suspended in her old school for fighting. "Please don't hurt me! I am just telling Serena and Travis about that new girl that showed up in school," said Melvin. "She is in my computer class. She seems pretty smart. She distracted all the boys from their studies. When she walked into the room there were catcalls from all the boys," said Amy who just walked up to the group. Amy was the most sensible and smartest of all of Serena's friends. Lita was one of Serena's good friends also. Lita was a very good cook and a courageous fighter. "Is she very flirty? If she is, My mom always said to keep a close eye on your boyfriend. Some one who flirts with every guy in sight is a danger to any relationship," said Molly earnestly. "Not during class but I didn't see her anywhere else today so I really don't know," said Amy. "You know it's kinda wrong talking about her behind her back. Where is she any how?" asked Lita as she looked around for the new girl. The others shrugged. "Well see you guys, " said Melvin as he and Molly turned to leave. "I was hoping they would go. Lita, Amy, we have scout business. Try to get intact with Mina, Rae, and Darien. We'll meet at the temple," said Travis. The group was all Sailor Scouts. Serena was the leader, Sailor Moon and the Moon Princess. Travis was Sailor Sol of the sun. Lita was Sailor Jupiter and Amy was Sailor Mercury. Mina and Rae were Sailor Mars and Sailor Venus. Darien was usually the dashing Tuxedo Mask but he could also turn into Sailor Earth. "You two better hurry up with your lunches, Lunch is almost over," said Lita. With unbelieving speed, the twins packed away an astonishing amount of food. "How was your day, Alexis?" asked Mrs. Lee as Alexis walked into the kitchen later that day. "Awful, I completely embarrassed myself in front of everyone. Then I asked some guy where lunch usually was and he gave me the wrong directions on purpose! So I didn't get to eat any lunch and my stomach grumbled all through my last classes. I was also being hit on by every boy that crossed my path and now everybody probably thinks that I am a flirt!" said Alexis with a dejected look on her face. Alexis watched as Bobby and a friend sneaked into the kitchen and grabbed a handful of cookies. "Put them back you two!" ordered Mrs. Lee. The two boys put them back reluctantly. "Alexis I have to go out for a bit so would you mind watching the boys at the arcade. Don't worry they will show you where it is," said Mrs. Lee as she grabbed her purse and car keys. She smiled secretly as she walked out the door. Alexis and the boys walked into the crowded arcade. The arcade was filled with laughter and computer game sounds. "Hey Sammy, I wonder if they have that new Sailor V game. Maybe Andrew will know," said Bobby. Sammy nodded and they dragged Alexis along to find Andrew. "There he is," pointed Sammy and the two dragged Alexis toward group of guys talking. "Hey Andrew, You got that new Sailor V game yet?" asked Bobby. A guy with sandy blonde hair turned around. He grinned when he saw the two boys. "Actually I just got it in today. It's in the back room so it won't be put out until tomorrow. Hey Bobby, isn't she a little old for you?" said Andrew with a smile as he pointed to Alexis. She felt color creep up her cheek at his comment. The ten year old wrinkled his nose at the thought. "Nah, Mom made her come along to watch us. She's mean. She was going to kill me this morning," remarked Bobby. "If you didn't get into my stuff I wouldn't have to kill you, brat," defended Alexis quite embarrassed over the little boy's comments. Bobby stuck his tongue out at her. The guys in the group laughed. "Well not to embarrass you any farther let me introduce myself, my name is Andrew and you are?" asked Andrew as he smiled widely at her. "Alexis Jones," said Alexis. "She just came from America four days ago," commented Bobby and he and Sammy left to play video games. "Really? My girl friend has a brother who used to live in the US until last spring when he moved here. Let me introduce myself since I feel a little left out. My name is Darien Chiba," said a tall guy. He was handsome and dashing with jet black hair and stunning blue eyes. "And since these other two seem to want to show me up I better introduce myself also. My name is Ken," said a tall guy with brown hair. He looked younger then Darien or Andrew. "Nice to meet ya'll," Alexis shyly. The guys in the group smiled. "So what it'll be Alexis? Do you have any favorite games or would you like me to recommend any?" asked Andrew. "Who is Sailor V? The boys seem to like that game," said Alexis. The boys looked at her in amazement. "You don't know who Sailor V is? Even Travis said they had heard of Sailor V and the Sailor Scouts in the US," said Darien amazed. "Well I hadn't. Wait a minute, Sailor Scouts? I thought there was only one of them and who is Travis?" demanded Alexis now totally confused. "Here let me explain. Sailor V is a video game character. Although some people said they have seen her in real life. The Sailor Scouts are real, they protect Tokyo from whatever tries to destroy the people. Travis is the guy who just moved here from the USA. He's also Darien's girlfriend's brother. Did I miss anything?" asked Ken. " I think you got everything," said Andrew with a laugh. "This is way to confusing at times," said Alexis. "Ken, you forgot something," remarked Darien with a wry smile. "And what would that be?" asked Ken to his friend. Darien picked up a toy off Andrew's desk and showed his friends. The toy was a little man with a tuxedo, white mask, top hat and a rose in its hand. "Ah, yes. We just can't forget Tuxedo Mask. He helps the scouts get out of scrapes. You see, Darien here is jealous 'cause Tux has all the scouts have crushes on him. Darien, you see, only has Serena," joked Andrew. "Serena?" Alexis rasped. The boys looked at her strangely. "You don't mean a girl with long blonde ponytails do you?" asked Alexis. "That's his Serena," said Andrew. The boys looked to her to explain why she was acting so strangely. " I met her this morning," said Alexis. Darien groaned. "Don't say any more. I had a fight with her this morning and she must have been still angry," said Darien. "So what's new?" asked Ken. "Darien, you're late. Didn't you get Lita's message?" asked Rae with a frown. "Yeah well, I was all the way over at the arcade," said Darien suddenly nervous, not because of the harangue he was getting from Rae but the aloofness of Serena. "Rae, chill out. It wasn't his fault," said Mina. "All right, all of you settle down, we have important business," said Travis as he called the meeting to order. " Now the Sun kingdom of the future is under attack. The Super Sailor Scouts can't do anything. King Tranquillity asked us to find the sun guardian. Sailor Pluto is going to open doors to our past. At each time door, we have to collect certain objects which we use as keys to find the Sun's guardian," said Travis. "I thought you were the guardian of the sun," said Rae. "All right for the second time, I think this guardian isn't really a guardian of the sun but of the king. Like Tuxedo Mask is a guardian for the Moon Princess," said Travis a little annoyed for having to explain his theory twice. "Hey Darien, do you know how you became Tuxedo Mask?" asked Luna as she uncurled herself from Serena's lap. Luna was a dark talking cat with a yellow crescent moon on her forehead. "Well, not really. On the moon kingdom, I swore an oath to Queen Serenity to protect the moon kingdom and her daughter from Queen Beryl," said Darien as he looked at Serena. Serena ignored him. "Travis did anyone swear to guard you and the sun kingdom," asked Artemis, a white talking cat. "Not that I can remember. Apollo always protected me," said Travis as he held out his arm and his falcon, Apollo landed on it. "I feel like we are over looking something small but still very important," said Amy. Alexis looked in wonder at the temple. The trees were covered with cherries. The scene looked like something off a post card. "This sure is pretty," awed Alexis at the beautiful scene in front of her. "Sure is. This is my temple. You wouldn't happen to be inquiring about the job here would you?" asked a little old man. He had a bald head and had laugh lines around his eyes. "A job? Here? No I didn't," said Alexis. The little man became down cast. "My granddaughter thinks that the temple is to much for me to handle so she wants to get new temple workers," said the down cast grandfather. "Well it seems you have done a fine job so far," said Alexis to the strangle little man. He beamed at her comment. "Well how about joining our martial arts class?" he asked. "Martial arts really?" said Alexis amazed. The old man caught the tone of interest in her voice. "Would you like to sign up?" asked the old man. "I have to ask my house mother but would it be all right if I just looked around the temple?" asked Alexis. "I f you want I could have Chad escort you. CHAD!" yelled the old man. A guy with dark brown hair that fell over his eyes appeared. "Give this young lady a tour of the temple," said the old man and gave Chad a wink, which made Alexis blush. The two watched the old man leave. Chad turned out to be an easy talker. He was an aspiring musician that came here to get over stage fright. When Alexis told him that she played the piano he was really interested and they talked about previous performing experiences. "Chad, what are you doing?" came an angry female voice. Alexis turned to see a very angry teenage girl with long dark brown hair. To Alexis's embarrassment, about six other people behind her watching. She recognized some from school. "Rae, well you see your grandpa wanted to show Alexis around the temple so..." stuttered Chad. The teenager looked at him angrily and crossed her arms. "I don't remember the temple ever giving tours," said Rae. Chad backed off and left Alexis to face the angry Rae. "I guess I better go," said Alexis, she was clearly embarrassed and her red face showed it and Alexis quickly left. "Rae, you shouldn't have been so hard on Chad with the girl there," said Mina. "I bet she was hitting on Chad. Did you see how closely they were walking together?" said Rae angrily. "Hit on Chad? That's the funniest thing I ever heard. I mean the only girl he can get is you!" laughed Serena very loudly. "Hey Hyena, why can't you have brains instead of meatballs?" snapped Rae. The others in the group sighed. This was a familiar scene for them. Darien and Travis didn't say anything. They were still watching Alexis as she put on her skates and skated away from the temple.
