BROKEN HEARTS The story starts out with a young blonde sitting on the edge of her bed. She has long blonde hair held back with a red ribbon. She sighs and turns her head to the left and we can see luminous tear-filled blue gray eyes focus and stare at a picture of a young man with blue hair with his arms around her. As she continues to stare the tears fall out of her eyes one by one to drip on her skirt. “Oh, Sapphir, why did you have to die?” she whispers, and the source of her pain is discovered. Another blonde enters followed by a tall man with black hair. “Hey, Minako-san, are you all right?” the man asked. Minako glances up and stares into his eyes. So blue, she thinks. Almost as blue as Sapphir’s. “I’m fine, Mamoru-sama. Really I am.” The blonde pulls Minako to her feet. “Come on! We’re getting you out of here! You can’t sit around and mope all day!” Minako resisted and then she said, “I’m too tired.” “Usako-chan, if she doesn’t want to go then let’s just leave her alone,” Mamoru said. Usagi smiled at Minako, “You sure, Mina-chan?” “Yeah, I’ll be fine. Besides Mako is supposed to drop off some of her cheesecake.” “Ooh, can we stay, Mamo-chan?” Usagi asked. “Leave Minako alone and I’ll buy you an ice cream,” Mamoru said and laughed at his girlfriend's antics. Minako forced a laugh and then showed them out the door. Just as she turned around to go up the stairs the doorbell rang. A young man with blue hair stood on the stoop. Sapphir? It’s not possible! She shook her head and the image of Sapphir turned into her friend Ami’s older brother, Will. “Hi, Will, can I help you?” “Yeah, Ami sent me by with a message. She picked up your homework for the next week, but not to worry about it she’ll give it to Usagi to do so it won’t look like you cheated.” Minako frowned, “Hey! Tell her that I don’t like being compared to Usagi brain-wise!” “But you are,” a new voice said joining them. Minako smiled at the tall girl with a messy ponytail of brown hair. “Come on in, Makoto,” she said. “Will, tell Ami thanks, okay?” “No problem,” Will said as he turned to go. “I’m not like that odango brain wise, Mako!” “Oh, Mina-chan!” Makoto cried and hugged her best friend. The two held each other as tears coursed down their cheeks. “Are you going to be all right?” Makoto asked stepping back to look at Minako’s red-rimmed and swollen blue-gray eyes. “I don’t know. I see him everywhere. I miss him so much, Mako, so much it hurts!” After the final battle with Sailor Galaxia all of the former Negaverse warriors who had been good when they died came back to life with no former memory of their former selves. Sapphir had come back as the boy next door basically and Minako fell for him (literally) as soon as she met him. They talked and talked and then he asked her out. They went out on one date which turned into two and so on and so on until it eventually turned into a marriage proposal and a sapphire and diamond ring for Minako’s left hand. Their graduation near the Sailor Senshi no longer needed to battle. They were on to bigger and better things. Until one of the former warriors regained his memory and how he loved someone else but hated the Senshi. He attacked with a vengeance, wounding Rei and killing Sapphir. Minako could still remember what happened those final moments as a part of her died. Sapphir had jumped in front of her to block the blow. He took the electric shock full force in his chest. He fell to the ground gasping and holding his chest. “NO! Sapphir!” she cried. She ran to him and cradled his head in her lap. She bent over his face with tears dripping down. “Sapphir, you can’t die. You can’t leave me alone! Don’t leave me!” she cried. “Minako . . . please . . .I . . .” he whispered. “Save your strength, we’ll get you to a hospital where you can get better.” “No . . . Mina-chan . . .I - I . . . love . . . you,” he whispered painfully, with each word blood trickled out of his mouth. Minako leaned over and kissed his bloody mouth. “Sapphir, I love you so much,” she sobbed. Sapphir shakingly reached his hand up to her face. Minako grabbed it and pressed it to her face. “Don’t . . . forget . . . me . . .,” he whispered and his eyes closed. “Oh, Sapphir! Come back to me! Sapphir!” she cried. “Then remembering his last request she pressed his hand to her heart. “I could never. Not in a million years, my love.” Minako then leaned over his head in her lap and pressed her forehead to his chin and sobbed. Makoto walked over to her and tried to pry her away from Sapphir’s lifeless body but she held on tighter and then they heard the worst sound ever. “SAPPHIR!” Minako yelled. Minako sat across from Makoto at the kitchen table, picking at her dinner. “So what are you going to wear to graduation?” Makoto asked. “I have this new dress that we bought. It’s a long silvery blue and I’m going to wear my hair up.” “That sounds beautiful, I’ve got this pale green gown and I’m going to wear my hair down. Usagi’s dress is modeled after her princess dress she says. She also says she’s cutting her hair but Mamoru said he would never talked to her again if she did.” Minako forced a smile and tuned out Makoto’s chatter. She was off in a dream world, recalling their first meeting long ago. She as Sailor Venus had saved the four other Senshi from Kunzite and Zoisite two of the evil Queen Beryl’s minions. Everyone had been so happy to see her. And then the next day no one had recognized her. After what had happened to Mamoru, Usagi was the only one who could understand. Ami had Greg, Rei had Chad, and Makoto had Motoki. Usagi did have Mamoru but she had been through so much as well. “So what do you think?” Makoto asked breaking in on her reverie. “What?” “Earth to Minako! Hello?” “What? I’m sorry, Makoto, I wasn’t paying attention.” “I noticed,” Makoto said dryly. “I asked you if you were up to going out to dinner before graduation.” “That sounds great,” Minako said with a false smile. Makoto watched her with a knowing look in her eyes. It was the day of graduation and all five of the girls were gathered at Rei’s temple . Rei was wearing a short red silk gown. She wasn’t graduating today because she went to a different school. Usagi wore her princess gown which was tight under her breasts and flowed freely over her hips and was so long she looked like she was floating. Her hair was as long as ever (apparently Mamoru had won that fight) and up in her usual meatball pigtails. Makoto wore a pale green dress with spaghetti straps that fit her like a second skin. It ended right above her knees. Her hair was down in curls and swinging freely. And as usual she wore her rose earrings. Ami was wearing a long sleeved blue dress. It was tight to her waist here it flared out. Her hair had two pearl clips in it on each side. Minako wore a silvery-blue dress that hugged every curve she had. It had no straps and was low cut in the front and cut in the back just above her waist. The dress was long and had a slit up both sides to her mid thigh. She wore silver high heels and her ring was the only piece of jewelry she wore. Her hair was piled into curls on her head. “Everyone looks so beautiful!” Mamoru exclaimed, coming up. “Thank you, Mamo-chan,” Usagi said and did a little bow. Mamoru was wearing his tuxedo and he held out an arm to Usagi and the other one to Minako. “Ah, I’m so lucky, I get to escort the two most beautiful blondes in the world.” “Thank you, Mamoru-sama, but I think the odango head is getting jealous.” “I am not an odango head!” Usagi exclaimed. “Yes, you are,” Mamoru said. “But I still love you.” “Mamo-chan,” Usagi said softly. “Usako,” Mamoru whispered and then gave her a kiss. “Hey! No making out with me on your arm!” Minako protested. All of the people graduating that night were on the stage in their fancy dress. The principal stood up and made his speech and then Ms. Haruna went up. “I am going to miss all of these students when they leave us tonight. I remember some of them from Junior High and now they are all grown up. One of the students graduating tonight almost didn’t make it. But her friends helped her and she pulled through to become one of the top 100 students in her class. I think everyone knows that I’m talking about Tsukino Usagi.” Usagi blushed. “Now on with the graduating class. First we have Aino Minako!” Minako walked on stage and received her diploma. She turned to the crowd and smiled and bowed and then she walked off. Haruna called some more names until she got to Makoto’s. “Kino Makoto.” Mako went up and got her diploma and turned and bowed. She called out names until she got to the last one which was Usagi. After the graduation they went to the dance. Mamoru danced with Usagi. Rei danced with Chad, Ami with Greg, and Mako danced with Motoki. Minako sat on the sidelines and imagined she was with Sapphir again. She felt his arms around her and his lips on hers as he whispered, “Mina-chan.” Minako sighed and opened her eyes to stare into a pair of blue mischievous eyes. “Hello, Mina,” the owner of those eyes said. Minako fainted. Author’s Ending Note: Well, that’s it for now. What do you think so far?
